The Electromechanical team at Arrivo is responsible for the Propulsion, Levitation, Active Guidance, and Power Delivery systems in the Arrivo next-generation transportation system. We are a highly skilled and multidisciplinary team of exceptional engineers in the areas of Electromagnetics, Mechanical Design, Controls and Dynamics, Heat Transfer, Materials Science, Embedded Systems, Power Electronics, Testing, and System Modeling. Arrivo engineers are expected to own designs from concept through prototype testing and eventually into high volume production.

Arrivo is seeking an experienced Vehicle Dynamics Modeling and Simulation Engineer to join the Electromechanical team as a Guidance Dynamics & Controls Engineer. The candidate will be responsible for the 6 DOF control system design and implementation of the propulsion, levitation and guidance systems, as well as support the simulation framework for these systems. Candidates should have a keen interest in analytical engineering work, and are also expected to interface with development and test activities.


  • Linear and non-linear modeling of mechanical systems
  • Control law and state machine design for active guidance systems
  • Derivation and implementation of advanced controls for flexible body and track tolerances
  • Sensor architecture layout and requirements definition
  • Interface with Embedded HW, Power Electronics, and Electromagnetics teams


  • M.S., or Ph.D. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Electrical Engineering with focus on control system development
  • 5+ years experience in vehicle dynamic/flight modeling and active guidance/navigation systems
  • Experience with classical and modern control design theory
  • Build and conduct robust stability and performance assessments under plant uncertainties
  • Model-based controls design, theory, and development with rapid prototyping tools
  • Strong Matlab/Simulink, auto code generation and C++ software development skills
  • MIL, HIL, SIL simulation, testing, and validation of control strategies
  • Well organized with meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills - can prepare and present results with clarity and brevity
  • Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment
