Arrivo is seeking a highly qualified Senior Controls Engineer based in the downtown Los Angeles headquarters. The candidate will be responsible for the development of model based control algorithms and applications for advanced high voltage powertrain components with extensive focus on electric motor control software.

Candidates should have a keen interest in analytical engineering work, but will also have the opportunity to interface with development and test activities.



·       Specifications development, systems analysis, modeling, simulation and implementation (applications may include propulsion using linear electric motors, regenerative breaking and energy storage systems)

·       Lead the motor control algorithm development in Simulink models, auto code generation, algorithm verification and validation through simulation, hardware-in-the-loop and dyno tests

·       Work on multiple applications within project constraints, including scope and timing to deliver excellent quality engineering work according to requirements

·       Develop techniques to optimize control system operation for attribute delivery

·       Develop and document CAE optimization and validation processes




·       BS or MS in electrical, mechanical or systems engineering with focus on control systems development

·       Minimum of 5 years of experience in developing electrical powertrain or related embedded controls systems

·       Model-based controls development with rapid prototyping tools such as MATLAB/Simulink/SF

·       Software development process knowledge and experience

·       hands on experience developing powertrain models and performing power, efficiency, and thermal analysis using model simulation packages

·       Model-in-the-Loop, Hardware-in-the-Loop or Software-in-the-Loop simulation, testing, and validation of control strategies


Experience with one or more of the following areas are a plus

·       Hybrid / electric vehicle systems

·       Energy storage systems, battery management systems

·       Electric motor operation and control (linear electric motor is a plus)

·       Vehicle dynamics simulation and control

·       Active safety systems
